History

Family Owned for Generations

Our story begins like many others—two local friends united to start a construction business. From modest beginnings, our journey has evolved over generations, demonstrating that success is achieved through hard work, experience, and unwavering dedication.

Although the construction industry has evolved over the years, the core values that founded our company remain unchanged. We emphasize dedication, hard work, a sense of family, and quality craftsmanship in everything we do, instilling these principles in every member of our team. It’s a privilege to serve many of our clients repeatedly, and we are committed to adding value to both our customers and the community by ensuring that every project is completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Toano Contractors founders

Over 40 years ago, longtime friends Robert (Bob) V. Piggott and William (Bill) V. Taylor founded Toano Contractors with the aim of providing top-notch site work and land development through a straightforward approach. Fueled by their passion and vision, Bob and Bill created a thriving business, developing numerous subdivisions and commercial sites across the region.

Before long, the next generation became involved in the company. Bill’s two sons, Chris and Randy, were frequently seen on job sites, working, operating equipment, and gaining hands-on experience in every aspect of the construction industry.
